4 comments on “How Do I Recover My Outlook Account?”

  1. I visited your ‘site’ because I have no longer got access to my ‘old – unused for 5 years, Hotmail account and I need to find just one email. the one that contains my windows 10 security key. I was among the group of people that received a free update from Windows 7 to 10. At the time this happened I was very busy, I also had no idea that Microsoft would simply scrap Hotmail and dump all of my carefully preserved emails, evidencing my communication connected to my work as a foster parent/carer. (I kept this ‘evidence’ to protect myself should an allegation of impropriety occurred.) I have lost nearly 10 years of recordings. I am struggling- I am unable to find by ‘SECURITY KEY’ – No Product Key was given. The Hotmail containing this record was deleted by Microsoft. I can’t access it. my current email is included below –

  2. Do they want emails going out or coming in?

Account recovery form (that you fill in) states:
    https://account.live.com/acsr
For these questions you might want to as for help from family, friends, or business contacts to confirm their email addresses and tell you the subject lines of emails YOU’VE SENT THEM.

Your account recovery request (response via Email – Rejection) states:
If you use Outlook, you will be asked to list recently used email addresses and the subject lines from recent emails.
Ask for help from contacts to confirm their email addresses and tell you the subject lines of the last three emails THEY SENT YOU.

    which is it?

    Thanks for you help

    • From the wording of the message, I’d say they want to know the subject line of emails they’ve sent you because that’s the message in the email. If not, try a second time with emails you’ve sent them.
