Once again, you might find it surprising that I’d be recommending what looks very much like competition to Ask Leo!. I’ll say it again: the internet’s a big place and there’s room for all of us. I’m happy to point you to yet another resource that I know might help you get useful information about technology and the internet.
The Internet Tourbus is a free email newsletter published roughly weekly, with a supporting website full of useful internet related information and tips.
To quote their site:
Become a Patron of Ask Leo! and go ad-free!
TOURBUS is a free email newsletter, read by about 100,000 people in 130 countries around the globe. Your tour guides Bob Rankin and Patrick Crispen (also known as the “Click and Clack” of the online world) explain Internet technology in plain English, with a dash of humor. Since 1995, Tourbus riders have been getting the scoop on Search Engines, Spam, Viruses, Cookies, Urban Legends, and other topics. We also give you in-depth reviews of the most useful, fun and interesting sites on the Net.
If you like Ask Leo!, there’s a pretty good chance you’re going to like The Internet Tourbus.
It’s another resource for getting topical and useful tech information.
I recommend it.
hmmm, I used to subscribe to TOURBUS years ago and somehow lost it. Since then I’ve tried at least 4 times to subscribe and get NO reponse at all – not even to my spam folder. What gives?????
I had no idea that Bob was still driving the bus! Long, long ago (in Internet years) before Broadband or DSL and many of us used archaic versions of AOL or MSN as our dial-up providers, The Tourbus was a weekly treat in my inbox.
If you look deep enough into his archives, you can find Bobs articles dating back to 1995! Awesome!
Thanks Leo, I’ll go subscribe again.
I used to be a subscriber myself but haven’t been able to resubscribe the last few times I tried. This time when I followed the link it shows the domain for tourbus.com is for sale…..
14-Oct-2011
The Tourbus made its final stop on October 18, 2011. Bob will still be publishing his “AskBobRankin Updates” newsletter. Having subscribed to both for years, I’m sorry to see the end of the Tourbus.
