Before you ask
- USE THE SEARCH BOX at the upper right of the page. I’m not joking when I say that as many as half of the questions I get every day are, in fact, already answered in an article here on Ask Leo!.
- GIVE ME LOTS OF INFO. Without enough information you won’t get an answer. Period.
- BE COMPLETE: I require the version of all software involved (particularly Windows), the full text of any error messages, the specific make and model of computer and detailed steps to reproduce the problem you’re seeing. Without enough information you won’t get an answer. Period.
I still can’t answer every question. Because of the number of questions I get every day there’s simply no way I can respond to them all. For more tips on getting your question answered please read Why didn’t you answer my question?.

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE. Go do that first, OK? Seriously, I ignore more questions simply because people didn’t follow instructions than any other reason. Sorry to be annoying about that, but you’d be surprised at how many people clearly don’t.
Please note that I can run as much as a week or more behind processing questions. Not always, but it happens, and when it happens it also means that I’m more likely to skip incomplete or vague questions. Please be clear, and please understand that responses might take some time.
