Is there anyway I can make Internet Explorer keep history forever?
[/al_question]No, not really. You can configure it for a maximum of 999 days, though. That’s almost three years, which is pretty much “forever” in internet time. Hit the Tools menu, Internet Options, and on the General tab there’s a section for History. The default setting is 20 but you can erase that and type in 999 if you like.

Is there a waya to save IE history as a file on my computer and where would i go to do this if i can ,i have XP PRO.
I have read all the articles here and this doesn’t seem to addressed directly and also seems to hold true for the my favorites which seems to have disappeared also.
Every time I close history is erased. I want to keep the history at least for 24 hours.
I want to do this save also — when ir crashes the history is lost on install.

If the internet browsing history has been deleted, would I still able to know what websites i visited in the past?
i have the same issue, my history doesn’t save when i close explorer any way to remedy this?
I would like to know if deleted visited websites can be retrieved as well. My history only goes for 60 days.
To the original question of this thread, a handy tool that I use in order to save and record my IE webpage history that I think works great is called, “IE History View”. It can be found on NirSoft at the following address:

Personally, I do not like to store my history and cache in IE for more than a few days at a time for online security and IE functionality purposes. However, I do often times store webpages and sites that I have visited into a file archive that I maintain in a special folder on my computer for future reference. IE History View is a fantastic piece of software that enables me to do that. It is quite flexible and versatile.
In response to James Briggs, there are at least two things settings you can investigate on IE options, if you are running IE 8:
1. On the advanced tab of Internet Properties, under “Security”, clear the check box of “Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed”.
2. On IE 8’s options, under the general tab, clear the check box under “Browsing history” that says, “Delete browsing history on exit”. (Note that this check box does not exist on the general tab on IE 7’s options.)
In response to Josh Jaggers, to my knowledge, once you delete IE’s cache and history, there is no way that I know of to bring back that information, unless you use a file recovery tool, such as “Recuva” by Piriform or some other file recovery software. In that case, such a task would be daunting to say the least, but could be done though through a rather laborious effort.
This may come to a surprise to some people; and, if you are concerned about files and information remaining on your hard drive after they are deleted, then I also suggest Piriform’s CCleaner or even a program called, “File Shredder v2.0”, which also has a built-in free space disk wiper that will not harm your disk’s undeleted files.
