I keep getting MSN Messenger messages that say I am signed on a another location. What does that mean?
[/al_question]Most likely it means what it says. The common scenario is if you use MSN Messenger on more than one machine, like I do. If the machine you’re not using is rebooted then it will sign on again causing you to get that message. Also, network problems can cause MSN Messenger to login again as well. However if you’re concerned that someone else is using your account or machine; just change your password and see if the problem goes away.
msmsgs.exe is Windows Messenger. msnmsgr.exe is MSN Messenger. See this article: http://ask-leo.com/archives/000017.html and then this one: http://ask-leo.com/archives/000132.html

how do you change ur msn messnger password and secret question
I’d start here: http://ask-leo.com/how_do_i_change_my_msn_hotmail_password.html
you have been signed out because you signed on in another location.i think i installed msn on my girlfriends laptop.does this mean that when she turns on her laptop,i could be automatically signed in there, causing me to get this message?
Certainly could be. A quick qay to solve it is to change your password.
yo if your getting signed out and your contacts are gone, usually it will mean that someone knows your password and is changing s***, change your password to something someone does not know
The problem just happened to me and after searching the solution for a while, i tried to change the connection preference to ‘No proxy’ (initilly Firewall with no proxy) and it works well. Happy trying guys!
Leo, you answer makes no sense whatsoever. The message began the moment I signed up for MSN Messenge, directly after it was installed. Tell me how someone could have been signing on as me at the same moment messenger completed. I was sitting at my computer completing the installation process, and not at another computer. If this is the best answer that you could find, you should stop giving answers.
What I did was go to controll panel and then add/remove and then windows componets and uncheck windows messenger.
Hi
I used to get alerts that says my husband signed in (became online) even if he wasn’t but when I would check my contacts I never seen him online. He changed his password but now I keep getting msn alerts saying that my husband has signed in on a mobile device. We work in the same office and he didn’t even set up mobile device on msn. What does this mean? Is it possible that somebody is using his msn? There isn’t any other thing that indicates that.
1. can i sign in deliberatly with same id at two different locations????. does any msn messenger supports this???

Been using messenger for quite sometime now on both a tower PC and a laptop. Usually, when I log on to the laptop I’ll get a message on the tower stating I’ve logged on elsewhere but doesn’t automatically log me off. The message on the laptop will be, do I want to log off at the other locations.
Now, however, all I need do is turn the laptop on and I’m suddenly signed off of messenger on the tower with a message saying I have logged on elsewhere . . .when I haven’t.
It doesn’t occur in reverse; if I’m logged on Messenger on the laptop and then boot up and log on with the tower, neither one is forced off.
Change of password worked for me!
