How do I stop popups?

How do I stop popups?

It depends on what kind of popups you’re seeing.

If you’re seeing Messenger Service popups (usually a grey box in the center
of your screen with an OK button), you need to stop the Windows Messenger
Service. The article about the different messengers below has instructions.

If you’re seeing internet browser popups full of advertising or porn, then a
good popup blocker will do. I’m quite happy with the blocker that’s built into
the Google Toolbar.

  1. Whenever I am reading mail, or browsing, popups continually appear. They stop, or mess up my search query as I type it in and when I look at the query window, nothing or little of what I typed is there. The Google blocked DOES NOT STOP THEM!!

  2. The Google Pop Up blocker does not stop the latest type of Pop Up – the ones where as you are reading the page it gradually spreads across your page, a person grins at you, it flips over and then finally moves to the side with for the first time a close button. I presume these are written in javascript but I would not buy from the advertiser out of sheer principle. But how do I stop them?
