Hi, everyone! I’m Leo Notenboom for askleo.com. The short version: Go visit forum.askleo.com. You’re going to find more questions and more answers than ever, posted there on an ongoing basis in the coming weeks.
Here’s the deal: I got a comment from someone, I don’t know, several weeks ago who said that, basically, I had very slowly been switching from answering specific technical questions to larger issues, bigger issues. I mean, the issues like we’ve talked about change, and should you upgrade to Windows 10 and bigger topics like that rather than well, how do I fix this problem?
What most people don’t see or don’t realize is that I actually answer a lot more questions than are published on askleo.com. What happens is questions get submitted, and in many case, they just don’t warrant the full article treatment, or it’s a variation of an article that I’ve already written, so it’s just a pointer to that article, or the answer would end up being a pointer to that article with a little bit of a comment.
So what I’ve decided to do, I’m going to try this for a while on the forum, what I’m going…, what you’ll see are these questions along with my short answers posted as individual posts with, like I said, my answer being the very first comment on the post. So for example, in the last week or so, I think I’ve added about 20 or more questions and answers out at forum.askleo.com.
So, why do I call it a forum? Well, this is where you come in. What I want to encourage is your participation. There are two things going on here. Like I said, you haven’t been seeing all the questions that I actually do end up answering direct via email to a lot of people, so you’ll be exposed to a lot more information, a lot more answers.
However, I don’t know everything, and I’ve been known to be wrong. This is an opportunity, and I’m encouraging you to come participate and answer unanswered questions. Correct me when I’m wrong. Provide your nuance on whatever the topic might be for the questions that are being posted there.
Like I said, I’m hoping it will be fairly active. I’ve already just without really even trying that hard, posted several, a couple dozen articles, a couple dozen questions out on forum.askleo.com1. A couple of them aren’t answered, and I’m looking for you to help me out.
Now, it’s important to realize that not every question I get is going to get posted on forum.askleo.com. I still can’t answer every question, and not every question is appropriate for askleo.com. I get that, but am willing to try to make more of an effort to get more of the questions that do come across my plate posted out there, so that everybody can benefit from the answer and everybody can benefit from your perspective on the answer or your answer, if I don’t have one.
So go have a look at forum.askleo.com and poke around a little bit. As with so many different things that I’m doing here on Ask Leo!, it’s an experiment. I honestly don’t know whether it’s going to work long-term. I hope it does; that’s why I’m investing in it now, but I think it’s one of those opportunities for us all to come together and do maybe a little bit more helping each other out.
I keep seeing such great comments on askleo.com itself – people who are really participating and adding value to the discussion, I want to encourage more of that. That’s why this is called a forum.
There’s no registration required. In fact, it looks and operates a lot like the askleo.com main site. You’re simply leaving comments on a post but doing so, like I said, you’re adding value to the person who has asked the question originally, to me and to the people who come in the future who may have that same question.
So check out forum.askelo.com. Let me know what you think. Like I said, so many things that I do on Ask Leo! are experimental in nature to see if they work out. I’m hoping that the forum is something that will have some really long-term success. So let me know what you think about it.
As always, if you’re watching this video, anywhere but on askleo.com, here’s the link to the watch the video and to leave a comment on the video. Let me know what you think about the video, the forum, the idea of encouraging everybody to participate and get more answers out to more people.
Thanks again for watching and I will see you again next week and in the forum at askleo.com! Take care.
